Fans of television horror mourn a familiar face today. Canadian actress Carrie Anne Fleming died at the age of 51. She passed away on February 26 in Sidney, British Columbia. Viewers best know her for her memorable roles on hit genre shows like Supernatural and iZombie.

A Tragic Loss

Actor Jim Beaver confirmed the heartbreaking news to Variety. He worked closely alongside Fleming on Supernatural. Beaver stated that she died following complications from breast cancer.

Fleming leaves behind her daughter, Madalyn Rose. Her family plans to announce a memorial service at a later date.

An Iconic Television Legacy

Fleming built a massive resume within the horror television genre. Fans across the world recognize her from several iconic roles.

  • Supernatural: She famously played Karen Singer on the hit CW series Supernatural. She portrayed the tragic, zombie-infected wife of fan-favorite character Bobby Singer (played by Beaver).
  • iZombie: Fleming later booked a recurring role on the CW’s iZombie. She spent five seasons playing the memorable character Candy Baker.
  • Masters of Horror: Director Dario Argento cast her in his anthology series Masters of Horror in 2005. She delivered a terrifying performance as a disfigured, cannibalistic woman in the standout episode “Jenifer.”

Early Work and Stage Career

Fleming began her acting career with roles on the sci-fi show Viper. She also appeared in the classic Adam Sandler comedy Happy Gilmore. In 2015, she played Candace Cameron Bure’s mother in the television film The Unauthorized Full House Story.

Beyond the screen, Fleming loved performing on stage. She originally studied drama at the Kaleidoscope Theatre in Victoria, British Columbia. She eventually starred in various regional theater productions, including classic plays like Romeo and Juliet, Noises Off, and Steel Magnolias.
