In October 2024, the rapper, musician, and actor Donald Glover canceled his North American and European tour dates that had been pushed back to focus on his “physical health.”
Donald Glover is talking about the health scare he just had.
The 42-year-old rapper, who goes by the name Childish Gambino, talked about the “ailment” that had him cancel the rest of his New World Tour last year during a performance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw on November 22.
Glover said on stage, according to clips shared on social media, “I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, but I did the show anyway.” “I couldn’t see well, so when we got to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor said, ‘You had a stroke.'”
He said, “The first thing I thought was, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx,'” referring to the singer’s near-fatal stroke in 2023. “The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everyone down.'”

Not shortly after he found out he had a stroke, the actor from Community injured his foot, which led to another worrying medical revelation.
“They found a hole in my heart…” Glover went on stage and said, “I had this surgery, and then I had to have another one.” “People say that everyone has two lives, and the second one begins when you know you have one. You should live your life the way you want to. It can only get better if we have to do this again.”
Glover put off the rest of his North American concerts for The New World Tour in September 2024 so he could focus on his physical health, but the next month, he had to cancel all dates since his health problems were still getting worse.
He stated on social media, “After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become clear.” “After being checked out, it was clear that I wouldn’t be able to perform that night… I have surgery scheduled for today, and I need time to heal.”
He went on, “I need to take my path to recovery seriously.” “We have made the hard choice to cancel the rest of the North American tour and the UK and European dates.”

A few shows that were supposed to happen in Australia and New Zealand soon after met the same fate.
Glover wrote to ticketholders in November, “Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected.” “The concerts in Australia and New Zealand that were supposed to happen soon are now canceled.” “One of the last things I want to do is let down my fans.”
He said, “I really appreciate the support you’ve shown, and I promise to do everything I can to make your experience great when the time is right.”
