Horror icon Bruce Campbell recently shared some tough personal news with his fans. He has been diagnosed with a type of cancer that is treatable but ultimately not curable. However, the legendary actor is not letting this diagnosis stop his creative momentum.
Here is what the beloved star had to say about his health and his exciting new film project.
Focusing on ‘Ernie & Emma’

Campbell is currently promoting his brand new film, Ernie & Emma. In fact, he wrote, directed, and stars in the movie! He plays a widowed pear salesman who travels to scatter his wife’s ashes while reflecting on their marriage.
Therefore, he is making the film his absolute main focus right now. “It doesn’t change anything for me,” Campbell recently explained during an interview. “It makes you prioritize 100 percent, and for me, the priority is this movie.”
A Special Family Collaboration
The project holds a very special place in Campbell’s heart. Specifically, he produced it alongside his wife, Ida Gearon.
“My wife and I have never made a movie together before, and this is the most exciting thing ever,” he shared. Consequently, the couple was able to create the film entirely in their own creative bubble without any outside influence.
Stepping Back from Conventions
Unfortunately, Campbell did have to cancel several upcoming summer fan conventions. He explained that his professional obligations must temporarily take a back seat to his necessary medical treatments.
Nevertheless, he remains in incredibly high spirits. He completely reassured his dedicated fanbase that he is ready to fight. “Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while,” he stated.
