In March 2023, Becky G‘s fiancé Sebastian Lletget made headlines over cheating allegations. Now, she’s opening up about navigating heartbreak and public scrutiny.
The Mexican-American singer (born Rebbeca Marie Gomez) got candid about her experience — which she briefly opened up about in her Rebbeca documentary — on the Wednesday, April 1 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast after she was asked how she blocked out the noise.
“My ground zero was people pleasing, self-sacrificing, doing what other people wanted me to do, forgetting that I mattered in that equation. This was an opportunity in my life to unlock and go inward and make this about me, which was so uncomfortable,” Becky, 29, said.
“If you know me, you know that I do not make decision passively. And it was so hard to shut out the noise,” she continued. “And the insiders say, ‘She didn’t even say anything. They just swept it under the rug and kept it moving.'”
Then, Becky explained there was so much that happened behind closed doors between herself “and this person who I love and care for deeply” — and whom she felt “betrayed by.”
“Like, no. I called off my engagement,” she revealed. “I took off my ring.”

“The thing about betrayal is it doesn’t just make you not trust the other person. You don’t trust yourself anymore,” she continued. “This isn’t even about them. This is about me. And there was something so empowering about that process to say, ‘No, I come first.'”
Host Alex Cooper asked Becky if they’re still together, and she confirmed they were — though it took a lot of internal work to forgive and heal. When asked if she could still see herself getting married, Becky said “absolutely.”
“I would love to. Like, re-propose to me,” she said, before opening up about how she’s achieved a positive outlook on the situation. “Post-traumatic growth is a choice. I do think that there is a shift in mentality that happened for me where it was like, I don’t want to be a victim of anything.”
Becky got engaged to the professional soccer player, 33, in December 2022 after six years of dating. Then, in March 2023, a woman posted on Instagram alleging that she had proof Lletget had cheated on Becky.
