After the huge successes of PK and 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani are joining forces again. This time, they will tell the story of Dadasaheb Phalke, the ‘father of Indian cinema’. Despite his huge influence, Phalke’s life has rarely been shown on the big screen, especially in Hindi films.
Official Announcement and Project Details
Aamir Khan’s team revealed that he will start preparing for the biopic after his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, releases on June 20, 2025. Interestingly, VFX studios in Los Angeles have already created AI designs to recreate the look and feel of Phalke’s era.

Rajkumar Hirani has been working on the script for four years with Abhijat Joshi and writers Hindukush and Avishkar Bharadwaj. Phalke’s grandson, Chandrashekhar Pusalkar, is also involved, sharing personal stories to enrich the film.
