Journey is gearing up for their highly anticipated “Final Frontier” farewell tour. Naturally, fans immediately began hoping for a reunion with legendary former frontman Steve Perry. However, those hopes have now been officially dashed.

The speculation reached a fever pitch earlier this week. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain confirmed that the band had indeed reached out to Perry.

The Open Invitation

Cain revealed that stalwart co-founding guitarist Neal Schon had personally asked Perry to participate. Initially, the response seemed promising.

“He didn’t say no – leave it at that,” Cain teased during a recent interview.

Consequently, rumors swirled that Perry might make a surprise appearance. Journey has 100 shows planned, and Cain emphasized that the former singer was welcome at any stop along the way.

The Final Answer

Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived. Perry has officially declined the invitation to join his former bandmates on stage.

Instead of looking backward, Perry has made it clear that he has moved on. He expressed deep gratitude for the fans and the music they created together. Furthermore, he noted that he is currently exploring new creative endeavors and enjoying making music that reflects his current life.

The Show Goes On

Despite the disappointing news for long-time purists, the farewell tour marches on. The “Final Frontier Tour” officially kicks off on February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Arnel Pineda, who is now the group’s longest-tenured frontman, will lead the band. After dealing with recent legal issues in the Philippines, Pineda is reportedly rested and ready.

“He’s gonna be fine. He’s a singing machine,” Cain assured fans. Meanwhile, Cain and Schon have put aside their years of well-documented legal battles to focus entirely on the music for this final run.
