Addressing the Speculation
Kyle Richards opened up during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 reunion about a deeply personal conversation she had with her daughters regarding her sexuality. The discussion came after growing public speculation surrounding her close friendship with country singer Morgan Wade.
“It had gotten to that point where it was something I needed to address with my daughters,” Kyle, 56, said during the episode, which aired Tuesday, April 15. “I wasn’t quite sure myself, to be honest. That’s not something you wake up one day and go, ‘Oh.’ It was a strange feeling.”
Her Daughters’ Support Meant Everything
Despite her fears, Kyle found comfort in how her daughters — Farrah, 36, Alexia, 28, Sophia, 25, and Portia, 17 — responded.
“It was a very uncomfortable, hard conversation to have,” she admitted through tears. “I wanted them to always be proud of me and I didn’t want to embarrass them.”
Kyle recalled how her youngest daughter, Portia, reacted with compassion. “Portia stood up, put her arms around me, and said, ‘I love you and there’s nothing you could say that would make us not love you.’”
Host Andy Cohen also shared a personal memory. “That’s what my dad said to me when I came out to him, actually,” he noted.
Clarifying the Conversation
Kyle clarified she didn’t label her sexuality but rather shared her questions and confusion with her children. “I didn’t say… I’m saying I have questions,” she said, adding that the talk gave her “freedom” to pursue what makes her happy moving forward.
Speculation about Kyle’s sexuality started in 2023 after her separation from husband Mauricio Umansky and her increasingly public friendship with Morgan Wade. She even appeared as Morgan’s love interest in the “Fall in Love With Me” music video.
Both Kyle and Morgan have denied any romantic relationship. “When the chatter started, before the music video and all that, that would never have crossed my mind. I have a very specific type,” Kyle shared.
Is There More Than Friendship?
Kyle admitted to questioning whether she may have developed a crush on Morgan. “It did make me think, ‘Well, what is going on here?’” she said. “Maybe I’m not seeing something.”
Despite the rumors, Kyle insists their relationship remains platonic. But the questions she asked herself — and her daughters — helped her explore her identity more openly.
