Snoop Dogg, the legendary rapper known for hits like “Gin and Juice,” made waves by performing at the Crypto Ball, a pre-inauguration event for President-elect Donald Trump. His appearance shocked many, considering his previous criticism of Trump.
Snoop Dogg Brings the Energy with Classic Hits
Taking the stage, Snoop had the crowd dancing to a mix of iconic songs, including Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds (Don’t Worry About a Thing).” His setlist delivered an uplifting and positive message to the audience. He also performed some of his biggest hits, including “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
High-Profile Guests Join the Celebration
Snoop wasn’t the only big name at the event. Rapper Rick Ross andUFC fighter Colby Covington were also in attendance, sharing their excitement on social media. Covington even posted a picture with Snoop, captioning it, “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.”
Snoop Dogg’s performance comes as a major shift from his past stance on Trump. In 2017, he mocked Trump in his music video for “Lavender,” depicting him as a clown and even staging a mock execution. In 2020, he openly criticized Trump, saying he planned to vote for the first time just to help remove him from office. He even called Trump a “weirdo” and had harsh words for his supporters.
Why Did Snoop Dogg Change His Mind?
Despite his long history of criticizing Trump, Snoop shocked fans by praising him in January 2024. In an interview with The Sunday Times, he stated:
“Donald Trump? … He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So, I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
Michael “Harry-O” Harris, a key figure in the founding of Death Row Records, was granted a pardon by Trump in 2021, just before leaving office. Harris had served over 30 years in prison for conspiracy and attempted murder charges.
Snoop Dogg, once signed to Death Row Records, was vocal about his gratitude at the time. In 2022, he went on to acquire Death Row Records, further strengthening his connection to Harris and his appreciation for Trump’s decision.
Trump’s Inauguration Approaches
President-elect Donald Trump is set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, Jan. 20. With Snoop Dogg’s unexpected endorsement, it’s clear that even some of Trump’s most vocal critics have had a change of heart.
