Shakira’s San Antonio Concert Abruptly Postponed Due to Stage Issues

What was supposed to be an electrifying night for Shakira fans in San Antonio turned into an evening of confusion and heartbreak.

Just hours before the Latin pop superstar was set to take the stage at the Alamodome on Friday, June 13, fans were left stunned as an announcement over the loudspeakers revealed the show had been postponed due to “structural issues.”

“Unfortunately, Shakira’s performance tonight has been postponed due to structural issues. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly when available. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The message echoed outside the stadium, where hundreds of fans—many of them waiting for over an hour in the heat—stood in disbelief.

Alamodome officials later clarified that the problem wasn’t with the venue itself, but with the concert stage setup. That didn’t stop a wave of frustration from sweeping social media.

“Worst concert experience ever #shakira,” one user posted on X. “So this crowd has been waiting over an hour and a half. But the #Alamodome refuses to open the gates. People are passing out. Apparently all over stage issues.”

Images showed fans slowly filing out of the Alamodome, some visibly upset, others just trying to process what had happened.

For those who paid for parking—$60 in some cases—there’s some relief. Alamodome officials told MySA that refunds will be issued automatically via a third-party vendor. If the refund doesn’t appear within a few days, fans are encouraged to contact the venue directly.

This marks another hiccup in Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. According to the BBC, she previously canceled shows in Washington D.C. and Boston earlier this year, also citing stage complications. Fox News reports that the D.C. show was already her sixth cancellation of the year.

While fans wait for a rescheduled date, many are still grappling with the disappointment—and hoping the next time Shakira comes to town, the stage will be as ready as they are.
