Scarlett Johansson has officially closed the chapter on her Marvel journey. Speaking with InStyle, she dismissed any possibility of reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff.
She firmly stated that Black Widow’s story is over, emphasizing that fans need to accept her fate in Avengers: Endgame. Despite speculation, she made it clear that there is no chance of a comeback.
A Complicated Exit from the MCU
While Natasha’s sacrifice was final, Johansson’s departure from the franchise wasn’t without controversy. In 2021, she filed a lawsuit against Disney, accusing them of breaching her contract by releasing Black Widow on Disney+ alongside its theatrical release. The dispute lasted for months before both parties reached a private settlement.
Fans Refuse to Let Go
Even after her character’s heroic sacrifice, many fans still hope for Natasha’s return. Johansson, however, believes it’s time to move on. She acknowledged their sentiments but insisted that Black Widow’s story had a fitting conclusion.

Johansson previously left a small window open for speculation. In a 2023 interview on Today, she mentioned that it would take a “Marvel miracle” for her to come back. However, her recent comments leave no doubt—she has fully moved on from the MCU.
