Robert Aramayo shocked the entertainment world at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards. He snatched the Best Leading Actor prize.

He defeated massive stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet. Furthermore, Aramayo won the prestigious EE Rising Star Award. This massive double victory makes BAFTA history. Aramayo became the first performer ever to win both awards simultaneously.

Honoring a Remarkable Man

Aramayo won these awards for his incredible performance in I Swear. He portrayed real-life Tourette syndrome campaigner John Davidson.

During his emotional acceptance speech, Aramayo called Davidson a truly remarkable man. Fans absolutely loved the brilliant and emotional film adaptation.

The English actor currently stars in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. He expressed sheer disbelief during his winner’s speech at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

“I honestly cannot believe that I have won this award,” he told the cheering crowd. “Everyone in this category blows me away.”

A Special Thank You to Ethan Hawke

Aramayo also took a special moment to thank fellow nominee Ethan Hawke.

Hawke previously visited the prestigious Juilliard School to speak with young acting students. He gave Aramayo’s class an amazing talk on career longevity. Hawke taught the students to protect their acting instruments. He also told them to avoid self-destructive behaviors.
