Joan Templeman, the beloved wife of British billionaire Richard Branson, has died at the age of 80. Branson confirmed her passing in an emotional statement on social media, expressing deep heartbreak over the loss of his partner of 50 years.
“She was the most wonderful mum and grandmum our kids and grandkids could have ever wished for. She was my best friend, my rock, my guiding light, my world,” Branson wrote as he announced the death of Richard Branson’s wife.
Branson, known for founding Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Galactic, and Virgin Orbit, shared three children with Templeman: Holly, Sam, and Sarah Clare, who died shortly after birth in 1979. The couple married in 1989.

In a 2020 blog post, Branson recounted first meeting Templeman in 1976 at The Manor, a recording studio in Oxfordshire. He described her as a grounded Scottish woman who was not easily swayed by his typical bold gestures.
