The Night’s Biggest Winners

The Triumph of “One Battle After Another” Coming into the night with an impressive 13 nominations, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another took home the top prize of the evening. The film not only won Best Picture, but also secured Best Director for Anderson. Additionally, Sean Penn claimed the award for Best Supporting Actor (though he was not in attendance), and the film made history by winning the inaugural Academy Award for Best Casting, awarded to Cassandra Kulukundis.

“Sinners” Makes Its Mark Ryan Coogler’s Sinners entered the ceremony with a record-breaking 16 nominations. The powerhouse film walked away with four awards in total, highlighted by Coogler winning Best Original Screenplay and Michael B. Jordan taking home the trophy for Best Actor.

In Memoriam

The ceremony also took time for a heartfelt In Memoriam segment, honoring the legacies of Hollywood icons we lost recently, including Rob and Michelle Reiner, Robert Redford, Diane Keaton, and Catherine O’Hara.
