Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, tragically fell to his death from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, sending shockwaves through the entertainment community.
Just moments before the accident, the hotel manager made a desperate call to emergency services, reporting that Payne was behaving erratically. The manager, Esteban, described how the singer was out of control and endangering himself, asking for urgent help. In a recording obtained by The Sun UK, Esteban said, “We have a guest drunk with drugs and alcohol. When he is conscious, he is breaking everything in the room.”
The reception head made two calls to the authorities, stressing the need for immediate assistance. During the second call, he expressed concern for Payne’s safety, saying, “We’re a little bit worried he’ll do something, that he’ll put his life at risk.”
Liam Payne had only been staying at the hotel for two or three days, according to the manager.
Emergency resources were dispatched to the hotel shortly before 5 PM, but it was after police were informed of the fall at around 5:07 PM that medical services were called.
Eyewitnesses reported that Payne was acting strangely and had to be carried back to his room before the tragic fall. He was pronounced dead at the scene, with authorities stating there was no chance of resuscitation. His body was later taken away by ambulance under police escort.
An initial investigation indicated that substance abuse may have played a role in the fall. An autopsy revealed 25 injuries, including severe head trauma, and authorities found no evidence of foul play.
Liam Payne leaves behind his parents, his son Bear Grey Payne from his relationship with Cheryl, and two older sisters.
