Khloé Kardashian and Kim Kardashian had open discussions with their children about their interactions with Tristan Thompson‘s brother, Amari Thompson, who has been diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
During the Thursday, April 3, episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, Khloé, 40, hosted a birthday party for Amari. While the Kardashian family attended with their children, some were initially cautious around Amari due to his medical condition.
Kim and Khloé’s Perspective on Raising Kids Around Amari
“My kids are much more exposed to Amari than some of the other kids. So True is more concerned than frightened of Amari,” said Khloé, who shares True, 6, and Tatum, 2, with Thompson, 34. “But I do think it is important for our kids — and everyone’s kids — to be exposed to all different types of people.”
“I love our kids growing up around him and helping him,” said Kim, who shares North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5, with West, 47. “They have lots of questions, and at times they might not be the most comfortable. But I think it is so important that they play with him and really get to know him.”
During the party, Kim asked if Chicago and her friends were “a little bit scared,” reassuring them that it was okay if they were. The celebration continued, though Kris Jenner became emotional when Amari experienced a brief seizure.
Tristan Thompson’s Guardianship of Amari

Thompson became Amari’s temporary guardian in September 2023 after their mother, Andrea, passed away from a heart attack. Amari has epilepsy and requires continuous care.
In February 2023, Thompson posted a heartfelt Instagram tribute to his late mother:
“Dearest mommy in heaven, It has been one month since you’ve been gone. I’m in disbelief. I’m in the deepest part of sorrow & grief,” he wrote. “My soul is empty as I come to terms that my biggest supporter/superhero is gone. I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of God’s warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way.”
He also acknowledged past mistakes, expressing regret for his actions:
“All I can say is, I’m sorry mommy for the wrong decisions I’ve made in my life. I’m sorry for the embarrassment & pain. You raised me better than what I was able to show you,” he continued. “But I have also learned sorry is not enough. Actions speak louder than words.”
Khloé’s Support for Tristan and Amari
“Tristan has a house that he is doing construction on and renovating. He was able to live there during renovations, but we had crazy weather for California, like extreme rain. Tristan’s roof caved in on his home and caused flooding,” Khloé explained in a season 3 episode. “So Tristan and [his youngest brother] Amari are staying at my house now until his home gets fixed. I’m grateful that I’m strong enough and brave enough to be a support system for someone else that has no other support system right now.”
