Kathy Hilton, star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, continues to support her estranged brother-in-law, Mauricio Umansky, despite his split from her sister, Kyle Richards.
“I still care about him. He’s my nieces’ father. He has always been wonderful with Farrah,” Kathy, 65, shared during the RHOBH After Show on Tuesday, March 4. Mauricio, 54, and Kyle, 56, share daughters Alexia, 28, Sophia, 25, and Portia, 17. He also plays a stepfather role to Kyle’s oldest daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, 36.
Reminiscing about the past, Kathy added, “Him and Kyle made a great couple. We used to have so much fun together.”
Checking In on Mauricio
Following Mauricio and Kyle’s separation in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage, Kathy has maintained contact with him.
“The situation is sad. I called him on their anniversary while he was away on a trip. I just wanted to check in and see how he was doing,” she revealed.
Although Kathy has stood by her sister, she acknowledges the emotional toll the breakup has taken on Mauricio.
“I felt bad for him too. The sadness and confusion were visible on his face. This situation has been just as tough on him. I wanted him to know that, no matter what, I care, and we’re here for him,” she expressed.
Kyle’s Emotional Struggles
During the RHOBH After Show, Kyle admitted that Kathy has been deeply affected by the split.
“Kathy has been incredibly supportive, but she’s also taken it really hard,” Kyle revealed. “She has broken down crying about my separation multiple times. Sometimes she gets so emotional that I find it hard to even talk to her about it.”
“She wants me to be happy and move forward, but a part of her feels heartbroken that things ended this way,” Kyle added.
Kyle Removes “Wife” from Her Bio
In Tuesday’s RHOBH episode, Kyle reacted to leaked photos of Mauricio kissing another woman at Mykonos airport. The images surfaced in July 2024, a year after they had announced their separation.
While speaking with Kathy, Kyle decided to remove “wife” from her Instagram bio.
“I need to do something right now,” Kyle stated. “I won’t keep ‘wife’ in my bio while he’s out with other people. Why should I?”
She continued, “Seeing that picture made the decision easier. In the past, I hesitated to remove ‘wife’ from my bio or drop my married last name, but that moment changed everything for me.”
As Kyle and Mauricio move forward separately, Kathy remains a strong presence in both of their lives, proving that family bonds can endure even through difficult transitions.
