On its opening day, Joker: Folie à Deux capitalized on the mid-week holiday and the absence of fresh competition from Bollywood releases, achieving a solid ₹5 crore at the Indian box office.

While the film may experience a slight dip on Thursday due to mixed reviews and it being a weekday, it is expected to recover on Friday and throughout the weekend, given the lack of new domestic releases. The main competition comes from Amar Kaushik’s hit horror comedy Stree 2 and the Telugu action epic Devara: Part 1, which continues to draw audiences from last week.

Joker 2 is poised for a strong opening at the global box office when it debuts in theaters across North America and other regions this Friday, October 4. The first installment, Joker, also directed by Todd Phillips, earned Joaquin Phoenix his first Academy Award and became the highest-grossing R-rated Hollywood film of all time, surpassing $1 billion at the worldwide box office. This record was recently broken by Shawn Levy’s Marvel buddy film, Deadpool & Wolverine .
