Emma Stone regrets saying Taylor Swift an ‘a-hole’. The Academy Award-winning actress has affirmed that despite her failed joke at the Golden Globes in January, there’s no animosity between her and her longtime friend Taylor Swift.
However, she has decided not to make light of her friend again. In a recent interview with Variety, conducted alongside “Poor Things” director Yorgos Lanthimos, the 35-year-old acknowledged facing criticism from Swift’s fans after jokingly referring to the “Cruel Summer” singer as an “a–hole” backstage in January.
“I definitely won’t make a joke like that again,” Stone said. “Because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context.”
“What a dope,” she added, pointing to herself.
The duo attracted attention on January 7th when their friendship was showcased, following the victory of the “La La Land” star who won the Best Actress award for her performance in “Poor Things.” As the name of the “Easy A” star was called the winner, the “Wildest Dreams” singer and her friend Keleigh Sperry stood up and applauded the actress.
“What an a–hole, am I right?” Stone joked backstage when asked about the pop star’s support.
“I’ve known her for almost 20 years, so I’m very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight, so I’m very happy she was there — but what an a–hole.”
