Nicolas Cage’s ex, Christina Fulton, urges the actor to step up and support their son, Weston Coppola Cage, as he faces legal and mental health challenges. When TMZ stopped Fulton, 57, on Wednesday, April 2, she sent a direct message to Cage:“Take care of my son. Our son,” she said.
Weston’s Legal Troubles and Christina Fulton’s Lawsuit
Us Weekly confirmed that in July 2024, authorities arrested Weston for felony assault after an April 2024 incident. Reports stated that Fulton sustained injuries while trying to help during what she described as a mental health crisis.
Earlier this year, Fulton sued Cage, 62, claiming he failed to address their son’s struggles and enabled his behavior. However, in March, the court dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice, preventing future refiling. “Well, we had a really good judge, and he put Weston on a mental health diversion. I’m happy that he’s going to get some help,” Fulton told TMZ. “I read my statement to the judge. My son got to hear it for the first time.”
Despite feeling relieved about Weston receiving treatment, Fulton expressed heartbreak over his actions. She also stated that he has not apologized or shown remorse.
Christina Fulton’s Advocacy for Mental Health and Police Reform
Fulton now focuses on advocating for mental health reform and improving law enforcement responses to domestic violence cases.

“I’m not gonna stop what I’m doing,” she vowed. “I’m gonna be out there fighting.”
In her February lawsuit, Fulton claimed Cage ignored Weston’s history of mental illness and violence. She also alleged that Cage bailed their son out of jail multiple times and financed his Los Angeles condo without ensuring he received psychiatric care.
“Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability,” the court filing stated.
Cage denied the allegations in a February statement:
“The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous. Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”
Looking Ahead
As Fulton continues her advocacy, the case highlights the importance of mental health support and accountability within families facing legal and personal struggles.
