The Hollywood superstar will headline Amazon MGM’s upcoming thriller “Subversion”, directed by Patrick Vollrath. Best described as “Die Hard on a submarine,” the film promises intense suspense, high-pressure decisions, and deadly threats.
Hemsworth plays a former Naval commander who gets blackmailed by a dangerous cartel into piloting a submarine filled with illegal cargo. With international waters as the backdrop, he must outsmart military blockades, face internal sabotage, and survive external threats.
According to the official logline, it’s a game of cat and mouse — with survival on the line.
Andrew Ferguson has written the script, while Lorenzo di Bonaventura produces under his di Bonaventura Pictures banner.

Director Vollrath is known for his critically acclaimed debut film 7500, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the Oscar-nominated short Everything Will Be Okay. He brings a gritty, realistic style perfect for this claustrophobic thriller.
“Subversion” isn’t Hemsworth’s only project with Amazon MGM. He’s also starring in “Crime 101” alongside Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Monica Barbaro.
Meanwhile, Marvel fans can rejoice — Hemsworth will also return as Thor in the highly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday.”
