Chris Hemsworth has hilariously admitted that he may have sabotaged any chance of forming a close friendship with singer Billie Eilish. Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on March 26, the Thor star, 41, revealed why he believes he “will never be best friends” with Eilish, 23.
“I got a photograph with Billie Eilish at the Oscars,” Hemsworth shared. “I remember thinking, ‘Ah, don’t do it, don’t do it.’”
A Selfie That Changed Everything
Initially hesitant to ask Eilish for a photo, Hemsworth explained that he and his wife, Elsa Pataky, went through with the request to impress their children. The couple shares daughter India, 12, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 11.“I was like, ‘No, my kids are going to love this,’” Hemsworth said. “The moment I took it, I was like, ‘I went from work colleague to now like a fan.’”Hemsworth then joked, “We will never be best friends.”
Though the two have never worked together, Hemsworth mentioned that they frequently “bump shoulders” in the industry.The now-infamous selfie featured a beaming Eilish posing with Hemsworth and Pataky at the prestigious event.

While Hemsworth may have lost out on a close friendship with Eilish, he has been open about his strong bond with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
The Australian actor shares a particularly close friendship with Matt Damon. He and Pataky frequently vacation with Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso.“We became friends around the time I started to work, and I’ve really benefited from watching how he handles himself,” Hemsworth told GQ in 2020. “Matt’s just a normal guy who has the movie-star thing figured out.”
Pataky has also spoken highly of the Damon family, sharing in a 2019 interview with People, “Chris has been a big fan of Matt Damon—me too. And then when I met his wife, I became even more of a fan.”
“They are such amazing people. We have three kids, they have four kids, so we ended up making the same plans because everything we do revolves around our kids. It’s easier to do things with people who understand you,” she added.
