Crime 101 is based on Don Winslow’s 2020 novella. The story follows a jewel thief, played by Hemsworth, who steps in to complete a job after another character drops out. Berry plays an insurance broker. Mark Ruffalo appears as a detective working to solve the case. The cast also includes Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Tate Donovan, Devon Bostick, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte.

At CinemaCon, Berry and Hemsworth joined director Bart Layton to present a preview of the film. Layton explained that the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles plays a key role in the story. He said the film aims to show the city in a new light. Crime 101 is scheduled for release later this year. The exact date is yet to be announced.
