Candace Cameron Bure Reveals Childhood Romance with Robin Thicke on ‘The Masked Singer’

The latest episode of The Masked Singer delivered not just an unexpected unmasking but also a surprising revelation about one of the show’s judges, Robin Thicke. Contestant Cherry Blossom, unmasked as actress Candace Cameron Bure, shared a nostalgic story about her childhood connection with Thicke.

A First Crush Revealed

Before her elimination on the Wednesday, March 26 episode, Cameron Bure, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly that she and Thicke briefly dated when they were just 12 years old.

“Robin and I have known each other since we were kids, and he was honestly my first crush,” she shared. “I think we were boyfriend and girlfriend for, like, a week. We were 12 years old!”

A Family Sitcom Connection

Cameron Bure’s brother, Kirk Cameron, was a star on Growing Pains, which aired from 1985 to 1992. The sitcom also featured Thicke’s late father, Alan Thicke. Cameron Bure made a guest appearance on the show after her Full House debut as D.J. Tanner.

While her run on The Masked Singer was short-lived, she revealed that had she stayed on longer, her next clue package would have referenced her childhood romance with Thicke. “I wished I had stayed on one more week!” she admitted.

A Special Connection to Bob Saget

The clue package viewers did see referenced Cameron Bure’s close connection to the late Bob Saget, who competed on The Masked Singer in 2020 as Squiggly Monster. She recalled watching his performance for the first time and instantly recognizing his voice.

“I just flipped it on not knowing,” she said. “I heard his voice, first note, and I was like, ‘That’s Bob.’ I know that voice anywhere. And I got so excited. I called him right away and I’m like, ‘Is it you? Is it you?’ And he’s like, ‘I can’t tell you.’ And I’m like, ‘OK, then you just told me.’”

After his unmasking, she spoke to Saget, who passed away in 2022 at age 65, about his experience on the show. “He told me it was so fun, and he wished he had stayed on longer,” she said.

A Long-Awaited Appearance

Cameron Bure revealed that she had been invited to compete on The Masked Singer four times before finally saying yes. She credited her decision to vocal coaching sessions with Tara Simon, who had appeared on her podcast.

Despite her early exit, her time on the show provided a touching walk down memory lane, bringing both her past friendships and childhood memories to light.
