The competitive tension is rising on The Voice, as Adam Levine and Michael Bublé found themselves at odds over one of John Legend’s singers during the Monday, March 31, episode of NBC’s hit singing competition.
The Battle for Kolby Cordell
“That’s quite a way to start it off,” Adam said. “BD, I was just so transfixed by your whole performance. Kolby, I love your rasp, but it felt like there was a little bit of strain in there from being tired, but you did an incredible job.”
While John ultimately chose BD to advance to the playoffs, both Michael, 49, and Adam quickly hit their steal buttons, eager to add Kolby to their teams for the next round of the competition. For more on the rules and features of The Voice, including the steal option, check out the official page.
The Showdown Between the Coaches

As Adam complimented Kolby’s growth, he added, “I also want to clarify about your rasp. It was just an observation. We want to keep the rasp; we just want to make it easy.”
Michael, never one to miss an opportunity for playful banter, fired back, “Yeah, walk it back, Levine, walk it back.”
When Michael finally got his chance to make his pitch, he took a humorous jab at Adam. “Obviously, Adam Levine has been here for 43 years,” Michael joked. “He’s a champion of The Voice. Kolby, in this whole thing, I want to get to know you. However that is, I’d love for you to choose me. You’re great.”
Kolby Chooses Team Adam
After considering both offers, Kolby ultimately chose to join Team Adam. Michael and Adam embraced in good spirits after the playful clash.
“I feel like we haven’t seen the best from [Kolby] yet,” Adam shared in a confessional. “I enjoy beating Michael Bublé at things, especially this.”
