Mika Abdalla has split from former fiancé Jake Short.

In June 2026, the actress’ rep confirmed that she and Short had ended their engagement after four years together.

Abdalla and Short first met when they were costars in the 2022 Hulu film Sex Appeal. In an August 2024 episode of The American High Podcast, Abdalla recalled meeting Short when they both arrived in Syracuse, N.Y., to start production on the project. Abdalla said she went over to Short’s hotel room to meet.

“I came over just to say hi and we ended up talking — not about the script, just talking and getting to know each other for hours,” she recalled.

He is from Indianapolis

Short was born in Indianapolis on May 30, 1997, per TV Insider. It was while growing up in the Hoosier State that he got into acting.

“I am from Indiana, and when I lived there, I was in acting classes and loved it,” he said in a September 2011 BSCKids interview. “I moved to California when I was 9 ½ and I have been here for about 4 ½ years and I really love it.”

He continued, “I am from a small town and my parents never dreamed that this would happen. It started though with my brother wanting to be an actor, so we both started doing it, but he decided he didn’t want to any more and I decided that I loved it.”

He was a child and teen actor

Short was a child actor whose first role was in 2007’s The Anna Nicole Smith Story. In 2009, he was in multiple episodes of Dexter.

He is best known for playing Fletcher Quimby on the Disney Channel original series A.N.T. Farm, which aired from 2011 to 2014. In 2012, he won Favorite Television Actor at the 25th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for his role, per TV Guide.

After A.N.T. Farm ended, he appeared in other TV series such as Mighty MedLab Rats: Elite ForceLessons in ChemistryHigh Potential and 9-1-1.

Aside from appearing on TV, Short also hosted podcasts with fellow former Disney Channel star Bradley Steven Perry. The two co-hosted the podcasts Hit the Brake and The Sit and Chat.
