A lot of people think Sara Tendulkar might follow her dad Sachin’s footsteps into the limelight — but not on the cricket field or Bollywood sets. In fact, Sara is carving out her own path, focusing on science, skincare, and making a difference through charity.
Growing up, Sara had a pretty unique childhood. With a cricket legend for a dad and a paediatrician for a mom, her world was a mix of hospital visits and cricket stadiums. Instead of bedtime stories, her mom Anjali would tell her about the medical cases she handled that day. That’s probably why Sara was always drawn more to science than to acting or modeling.

Her mom fondly calls her the “Belle of the ball” — full of energy, bubbly, and always ready to be the centre of attention. Even as a little kid, Sara loved beauty and self-care, inspired by a local salon’s home visits. Though she tried her hand at tennis, chess, art, and dance, science was her true passion. She worked hard and became a biomedical scientist and certified nutritionist — pretty impressive for someone her age!
One big challenge she faced growing up was PCOS, a hormonal condition that caused acne and made her self-conscious. “I started getting acne around seventh grade, and I didn’t know what it was. It really hit my confidence hard,” she shares honestly. Her mom adds, “Sara wanted to cover up with makeup, but I encouraged her to keep it simple and focus on healthy skin instead.”
After trying many treatments, they finally found success with the help of doctors who recommended changes like intermittent fasting and weight training. Today, Sara manages her PCOS well and feels much better both physically and mentally.
When it comes to handling the spotlight, Sara says she had a pretty normal childhood. “I played with friends, went to school, and paparazzi weren’t too much of a thing back then. Now, they’re everywhere! I try to be myself and wear what I like — no ‘airport looks’ for me.”
Her mom adds, “During Sachin’s cricket tours, we always made sure Sara and her brother were protected from the media frenzy. Things have definitely changed since then.”
Sara’s real passion lies in science and helping others. After studying biomedical science and public health in London, she returned home to work with the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation. “On a family trip to Kashmir, I saw children getting life-changing surgeries for cleft lips and palates. It was inspiring, and that’s when I decided to join the foundation.”
And don’t expect Sara to show up in movies anytime soon. “Acting isn’t for me. I’m an introvert and get nervous around cameras. I’ve turned down film offers because I want to focus on what truly matters to me.”
Sara also talks openly about beauty in today’s world. “People get obsessed with flaws on social media, but Instagram isn’t real life. Some influencers have 15-step skincare routines, but you should just do what works for you.”
Her morning routine is simple: “Water, some nuts, and black coffee — can’t skip that before my workouts. On other days, it depends on how I feel.”
Because her skin is sensitive, she avoids harsh products at night. “Using acids or retinol before going out in the sun just irritates me.”
Sara Tendulkar’s story is a breath of fresh air — someone choosing her own path, embracing her struggles, and focusing on what really matters. She’s proof that you don’t have to follow the crowd to shine.
